About us
Phlashers (Philippine Flash Actionscripters) is the Philippines‘ premiere Adobe Flash, Flex and AIR community - showcasing talented Filipino Flash & Flex designers, animators, authors, coders and artists. Phlashers is also the official Adobe Flash & Flex User Group for the Philippines.

Phlashers was started informally in late 2007 by members of Philweavers (the Philippine Web Designers’ Network) who felt the growing need for a Filipino community where all things Actionscript could be discussed. The name was coined by Donald Martinez as a spin on the web design community nickname “Flasher” for people who work with Adobe/Macromedia Flash, placed in the Philippine setting: Ph + Flashers = Phlashers. * We’d also like to think that Phlashing is just as cool as Phreaking
Towards the end of the year, a mailing list was created, more people joined, and finally, a small community was formed. The site was designed by John Imbong, while Patrick Cabral and Dan Michael Roldan created the Phlashers logo based on the glyph for the letters “P” and “H”
(for PHilippines) in the ancient Filipino writing system of Baybayin and the logo of Macromedia Flash — the glyph of which bears an uncanny resemblance to the “Pa” glyph in Baybayin. In mid-2008, Phlashers was formally launched and became an official Adobe User Group.
